grew up in Ankola, a small town in North
asset.JPG arnataka. Due to the financial situation at home I
wasn't able to continue my education and I had to drop out when I was in class 8. Even during the time I attended class, my fellow mates side-lined me and made fun of me because of my speech disability, I had a stammering problem, hence I was always alone, but I believe this was the reason the creative side in me evolved. I started sketching and drawing on the walls of the town using charcoal, and from then on I never looked back.
The creative side in me just took over. I believe strongly that God had a plan for me and I was destined to be an Artist. This brings me to my other series of work "The journey of Buddha".
"Buddathva" is to revolutionize one's inner life, to develop the qualities of the Buddha. Wisdom, compassion and abundant vitality or life-force.
The life that flows through each of us and through everything around us is actually all connected. To say that, means that who I really am cannot be separated from all the things that surround me.
Every individual has to finally reach the state of Buddha. It may take several lifetimes but that is the ultimate end.
Every day I sit and draw what I am experiencing and going through on that particular day. The series "The journey of Buddha" is very personal to me, as it brings a sense of connection to something bigger than myself/ourselves, and it involves a search for meaning in life, it's a universal human experience - something that touches us all.
Every individual has their own way of connecting to the higher power. For me Art is the path to reach the beyond.
Through my journey in Art I have participated in many group exhibitions all over the country as well as I have had quite a few solo exhibitions.
My life changing experience was, when I was awarded by the "Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy" for their "18 Asian Art Biennale". I received the award for "Contemporary Society" a 98" (48"×60") work which depicts the domination of the capitalist world. I couldn't believe I received the award because this was the first time in the 37- year history of the Art Biennale that an Indian Artist has been awarded.
